The rise of home clinics and practices

The year is 2014 and whilst bionic limbs have not eventuated as quickly as predicted by science fiction writers we are seeing a shift in the way medicine is performed. The medical landscape has fragmented with the rise in alternative medicine clinics and the ever merging of the eastern and western medical fraternities. Parents are constantly bombarded with choices for their teenage children. Which health provider is better than the next.

Australia has been an interesting test case. A population of under 30 million people, the way Australian business adapts to a dynamic environment is remarkable. This adaptation and flexibility is especially true for the health industry which has seen a major readjustment since the push of the Howard government in the late 90’s towards a private health system.

Private health funds have adapted and used generous ‘extras’ rebates for a range of popular but previously unaffordable health services such as Acupuncture, Physiotherapy, Chiropractic care, Optometry, Neuropathology and Massage.

However these smaller health providers have had to deal with increasing amounts of competition as the number of suppliers in the market has increased dramatically forcing these businesses to find efficiencies in a variety of ways.

We spoke to owners of Acupuncture Brisbane, based in Australia’s third largest city, to the north of the city centre. Not only is this acupuncture clinic run from their home residence (which is quite large) they have further increased efficiencies through their investment in cutting edge digital systems.

They have invested in Search Engine Optimisation together with Adwords and a streamlined web presence whereby bookings can be made online and relevant articles are there for people who are unsure about the legitimacy of their acupuncturists. We visited their website and found the information about their acupuncture clinic in Brisbane informative and interesting.

Upon making a booking we had the chance of visiting the clinic located in Brisbane’s northern suburbs, in Kedron where we were met with a personalised experience which did not lack for professionalism with a family touch.
